Artist Statement

“My work has always been deeply informed by nature and more specifically by how the changing seasons and weather impacts the Iowa landscape. More recently, my paintings have been intentional explorations of balance and harmony using color, movement, and texture to represent the disparate parts that make up our lived experience and how these pieces of ourselves overlap and connect. My paintings are visual representations of an emotional eco-system that strives to achieve a sustainable ideal through connection to self, art, family, grief, joy, and to the natural world as a way to move forward through the often chaotic and overwhelming nature of contemporary life.”
